Mr. F: Sexuality and power, or Power described as sex.

I’m in the middle of reading Michel Foucault’s The History of Sexuality,
Volume 1. There are a lot of interesting ideas in there, but the thing I can’t stop
thinking about is how everything Foucault writes sounds like… Well, porn.
And it’s not just the sex stuff. Or even mostly.  It seems power that controls
sexuality is a lot sexier than sexuality itself.  It touches the bodies, caresses
them with their eyes, grabs them around the waist… Follows the sexuality
along indefinite lines of penetration. There’s also a whole bit about control
and sexuality ending with perpetual spirals of power and pleasure.

Now I know what I’ll be doing next time I’m bored. I’m gonna go monitor,
analyze and control me some “disparate”sexuality. Because if it’s as arousing
as it sounds, it’s gotta be pretty fun too!

ps. The nickname in the title is in no way a reference to Arrested Development’s worst plot line ever. Just so you know.

pps.

As a big fan of Foucault and especially of these 3 books, let me also add that it’s the creepiest porn ever.

    • Haha, yes it is! The chapter where he describes how the analysis of sexuality replaces the symbolism of blood (or something like that) actually made me feel physically ill.
But I like his ideas. They just make me a little sick sometimes…
